Information

Tuk-Tuk Turmoil was a lively and chaotic dodgems attraction at Chessington, inspired by the infamous and notoriously madcap Tuk-Tuks. Best known as the iconic vehicles of Bangkok, Tuk-Tuks are widely used as taxis in the developing world. Given their nimble nature, they were a perfect fit for Chessington’s re-theme of its classic dodgems. Since the 1920s, dodgems have been a staple of funfairs and theme parks, and Chessington’s version was no exception.

Opening in 2000 as part of the Beanoland area under the name Roger the Dodger’s Dodgems. Always drawing long queues, it provided simple yet thrilling fun—crashing into friends and sending them spinning! As popular in its final days as it was when it first opened. The attraction remained a fan favourite throughout its years of operation.

When Beanoland closed, the ride found a new home in Wild Asia. Receiving a fresh theme and a new identity as Tuk-Tuk Turmoil. The Dodgem cars were repainted in more muted tones, and the ride’s building was redesigned to better fit the area’s aesthetic. Relocating to the opposite side of Wild Asia to make room for Kobra, the ride’s transformation was carefully planned by Chessington’s creative team—and it paid off.

For years, guests strapped in and weaved through the chaos, much like Tuk-Tuk drivers in Thailand, enjoying the timeless appeal of this classic attraction. With secure lap bars keeping riders in place through the bumps and collisions, it offered heaps of fun for all ages. However, as Chessington continued to evolve, Tuk-Tuk Turmoil was eventually closed and removed to make way for future attractions. Though gone, it remains a fondly remembered part of Chessington’s history.
