March 31st 2016
Ladies and Gentlemen, Chessington’s new King has arrived. Following the sad news last year of the untimely death of Chessington’s former Asiatic Lion, Ashok. A new lion has been sourced and arrived at the park earlier today.
Originally born in Zoologischer Garten Magdeburg May 13th 2010. Kamal and his twin brother moved to Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park Zoo in Canada in 2012. Kamal and his brother Bhanu have now both moved back to Europe as part of the European Breeding Program. Bhanu will take up his new kingdom in ZSL London Zoo. With Kamal joining Rani at Chessington World of Adventures.
“Adventurers, we have some fantastic news, Rani will soon be joined by a male lion called Kamal! We can’t wait ‘fur’ him to take up his Pride of place in Trail of the Kings.

Kamal arrived today and is already making himself at home in the park. With a gradual meeting process between him and his new mate, Rani. He will soon settle in. It is hoped that the newly matched pair will mate and produce cubs of their own.
We’ll of course be following this budding romance closely and we hope that Kamal will enjoy his new home. Be sure to keep an eye here on Chessington Buzz for all the latest news.
