Chessington World of Adventures Resort is planning to reopen on April 12th, alongside other Merlin Entertainments theme parks. Following the recent announcement of a ‘Roadmap’ out of the UK’s current National Lockdown. It has been revealed that theme parks could be allowed to reopen alongside Zoos and non-essential retail on April 12th.
Although the parks look set to open, this is of course subject to the UK government confirming that the next phase of the ‘Roadmap’ can go ahead. The confirmation of this is due to take place one week before, on Monday, April 5th.
Although the Theme Park and Zoo will likely be able to reopen on April 12th, the Resort Hotels will not. Currently, hotels that cannot offer self-contained accommodation, will not be allowed to reopen. It is hoped that the hotels at Chessington will be able to reopen on May 17th. This is in line with the next phase of the UK’s ‘Roadmap Out of Lockdown’.
It is exciting news that the park and other theme parks across the country are planning to open. The current national lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19 has been hard on people across the country. This news will likely give fans something to look forward to!
Chessington Buzz hopes to be there on opening day. We plan to be carrying out live updates on our social channels, so be sure to give us a follow! We’ll be sharing our thoughts on the new 2021 ride, Croc Drop, as well as seeing other changes around the park! 2021 is so far offering more hope than the 2020 season as we look forward to a longer season at the resort.
