Chessington opens the Gruffalo River Ride Adventure! “There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo?” There is now, as Chessington World of Adventures Resort unveils a world first this weekend. With the opening of The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure. Today, celebrities and families alike took to the latest attraction at the resort. Therefore, following the Little Brown Mouse as he avoids any terrible tusks and claws on a River Ride Adventure.
The new ride, based on the books by Julia Donaldson, tells the story of the Little Brown Mouse. As he takes his little adventure through the Wild Woods. Taking a trip along the flowing river as it twists and turns through the scenes of the book, illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
“We are absolutely delighted to open the Gruffalo River Ride Adventure at Chessington. We know how popular Julia Donaldson’s book is and are thrilled to be able to take our visitors through the story in an interactive and magical way.”
– Tim Harrison-Jones, Divisional Director
The ride represents an investment of £1.9m into the Chessington World of Adventures Resort. Rejuvenating the park’s former Bubbleworks ride, which closed in September 2016. A ride which many have fond memories of since its opening in 1990.
The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure is a huge change for the ride. With an entirely reworked station area, completely new scenes, lighting, music and scents. The ride is a welcome change from the former glory of the Bubbleworks, which had certainly seen better days. Although it’s certainly sad to see the Bubbleworks leave, The Gruffalo is a suitable replacement.
