Rides Closed Until 2014

  July 22nd 2013

Rides closed until 2014. Chessington World of Adventures has revealed that more than one ride will remain closed for the season. Earlier in the year, we reported that the Runaway Train was to remain closed. Now, it has been confirmed another ride is to be closed until the 2014 season.

Following an incident last month on Rameses Revenge. It has been revealed that the ride is to remain closed for the remainder of the year. With high amounts of damage to the ride’s restraints following the incident, more work is needed than anticipated to repair the ride.

Last month the ride broke down and safety mechanisms were locked into place. Causing riders to be locked into the ride. Fire crews had to carry out emergency evacuation procedures, which involved cutting the ride’s restraints off. The ride had been having a troubled season, with limited operation due to maintenance issues.

This comes as a blow to Chessington, who have already had to close the Runaway Train. Due to concerns over the safety of the ride’s rockwork. It was confirmed the ride would be closed until 2014 whilst works are undertaken.

It’s unfortunate that these rides closed until 2014. Things don’t seem to be going Chessington’s way this season. With two rides closed and a host of scenery removed. The park is certainly struggling. Let’s hope they can turn things around as we head into the busy school holidays.
