Safari Lodges On Track

Safari Lodges On Track.

Earlier today, Chessington World of Adventures Resort submitted planning amendments to the council. The amendments have been submitted to respond to questions and planning conditions imposed upon them. The original planning application, submitted in 2017 for 45 lodges was withdrawn.

Although it has not been revealed why the original application, which included a restaurant and giraffe feeding platform was withdrawn. In 2018 a new application was submitted for a scaled-back version of the plans. Now featuring just 34 lodges, the “Watering Hole” restaurant and feeding platform were removed.

These amendments to the plans are merely to satisfy planning conditions and do not represent a material change to the planned lodges. Although, there has been one small slither of information revealed. We now have a rough timeline. Construction is anticipated to commence in December this year. Plans indicate that it will take 52 weeks to construct.

Therefore, we believe that the new lodges will open to the public ahead of the 2023 season, alongside Project Amazon. Although, this is of course subject to change. With lots of work going on around the Resort, projects can be moved about, delayed and put on hold.
