You’re Having A Giraffe

  January 11th 2013

You’re Having A Giraffe! With the opening of Zufari: Ride Into Africa! opening only a few months away. Chessington World of Adventures today took delivery of four very special inhabitants. The bull Rothschild giraffes have all travelled via road to their new home in Zufari.

Four new male Giraffe will call Chessington their new homes and have arrived from zoos across the UK. Tonda (Paignton Zoo), Kismet (Marwell Zoo), Karamoja (Port Lympne) and Kito (Woburn) have settled into their new accommodation.

We are thrilled to welcome giraffes back to the resort for the first time since 1995. With any new animal arrival, there are challenges to face, and we have recruited specialist giraffe handlers to ensure they have the best possible care. The new giraffe enclosure has some of the most modern facilities in Europe and it’s great to finally welcome the new residents.

– Mark Boardman, Zoo Manager

Travelling via road in specially designed trailers. The four giraffes took no time at all to get acquainted in their new animal house. Their state-of-the-art homes are part of a huge multi-million-pound expansion and attraction.

Bringing the heart of Africa to the hills of Surrey, Zufari: Ride Into Africa is a huge expansion. Set across 22 acres of paddock. The animals have a huge new home. With plenty of expansive areas to roam and state-of-the-art animal welfare buildings.

Zufari: Ride Into Africa opens on March 16th with a host of fantastic new animals. With a crash of Southern White Rhino, Giraffe and even Flamingos! You’re Having A Giraffe!
