Chessington opens for 2021. It’s official! Chessington World of Adventures Resort has finally opened for the 2021 Theme Park season! The Government has given the all-clear for outdoor attractions to reopen as part of its ‘Roadmap’ out of Lockdown. With all outdoor attractions open, only enclosed rides such as Tomb Blaster and The Gruffalo remain closed.
New for 2021 is Croc Drop. The new thrilling family tower drop ride replaces the tired and much loved Rameses Revenge ride. Adventurous riders are lifted to heights of 25m before being dropped into the mouth of a giant crocodile! With a whole host of special effects, the ride is a sensational new addition to the park. Themed around the Egyptian deity Sobek, the new ride represents a large investment into the park.
Also new for the 2021 season is Blue Barnacle. The new pirate ship ride replaces the former Black Buccaneer ride down in Pirate’s Cove and has seen a number of changes to the area. There are lots of exciting changes, with the water surrounding the ride has been reinstated and the waterfalls in the queue line being back! Blue Barnacle wasn’t quite ready for opening day at Chessington but started testing later in the afternoon. We’re really looking forward to the ride opening, with it set to open in the next couple of weeks once the park has finished staff training.
Further rides and attractions are due to open as part of the next phase of lockdown easing. Chessington is hopeful that the full park will be operational soon.
With a whole host of other changes around the resort, Chessington is looking in tip-top condition and we cannot wait to spend more time at the park this season. The future is bright for Chessington and for the UK this season!
